- Configure, commission, and evaluate digital, analogue, and mixed electronic systems and sub-systems, in simulated circuits
Assessment Content
You are required to carry out the following 5 tasks:
Topic 1 Design and test a power supply.
Design and test dual power supply delivering up to 700mA at 10 Volts.
The test must be undertaken both practically and /or with Multisim.
The report must include:

– A graph of output voltage against load current. (5 Marks)
– Comments on the regulation (Line and Load) of the power supply. (5 Marks)
– a graph of ripple voltage under load conditions for a variety of smoothing
capacitor values. (5 Marks)
Topic 2. Exploration and simulation of passive and active filters using Multisim.
(a) Explore simple passive and active filters, using Multisim (5 Marks)
(b) Design and test a non-inverting active low pass filter circuit that has a gain of ten at low frequencies, a high frequency cut-off or corner frequency of 318 Hz and an input impedance of 10KΩ. The test must be undertaken using Multisim. Include in your report the following:
– Circuit design. (10 Marks)
– table of results (5 Marks)
– Bode plot (5 Marks)
– Comment on the results obtained (5 Marks)
Topic 3. Design and build of simple Op-amp circuits practically and /or using Multisim.
(a)) Design and build of simple Op-amp circuits practically and /or using Multisim.
(i) An astable Multivibrator and (ii) an ac amplifier (8 Marks)
(b) Design and build of an Op-amp based Wien Bridge oscillator which will generate a sinusoidal waveform of 6 KHz. The test must be undertaken practically and/or with Multisim. Include in your report the following :
– Circuit design. (8 Marks)
– the output waveform. (4 Marks)
– comment on the results obtained. (5 Marks)
